Pain catches unawares
As I get up from chairs or stairs
Creak! crack! Oh that’s my back!
Oh heck-There goes my neck!
It’s sad that I am wearing out
It makes me want to
Scream and shout
I mean it just seems so unfair
that I go slowly everywhere
Inside my head I’m young and fit
my bones just don’t acknowledge it
In dreams I run o’er verdant hills
In dreams I’m free of all my ills
Yet slowing to a sedate pace
gets me and nature face to face
For when I pause to rest my feet
I spot a lovely flower sweet
But as I bend slowly down to sniff
a rose whose perfume I do whiff-
Oh Crick crack
there goes my back!
