Whatever you do don’t leave your compulsory vote until the last minute on election day because the blooming voting slip it is nearly half a toilet roll lol long! I had no idea there were so many political parties in the country. I had to choose six and number them. I was tempted to give one vote (like Eurovision) to the Legalise Marijuana Party just for the fun of it but realised they would probably be too stoned to look after the country. Although if they could get medicinal marijuana up and running that would be worth a vote. No good to me though. Tried the ordinary stuff many years ago for post-op pain and had the worst time ever. Im digressing as usual.
So my carer and I spread the metre-long voting sheet on the table of Swansea RSL between the first plateful of Chinese all-you-can-eat and the fruit and pavlova dessert, and with the extra pair of eyes to help me we got that and the green slip completed and witnessed, and into the P.O. mailbox on the way home.
Beware though, neither of the main parties are just Liberal and Labour on the sheet so look carefully. If you get behind someone like me near the close of polling you could end up in a sceaming heap.
It was so easy to vote in the recent State Election, when we could register to vote electronically. Easy Peasy.
Update Friday. Just got an email from Australian Electoral Commission to say they have received my postal vote so now I can sit back and relax.
