From Hunter local Land Services:
Not a happy hopper!
This is the face of a whopping cane toad, found at Swansea.
Thank you to all our local community who have joined the hunt for cane toads in our region this weekend, after one toad was caught in Eleebana last week.
We don’t want cane toads to establish in the Hunter – it only takes one toad to have a huge impact on our biodiversity.
Do you know one female can lay up to 70,000 eggs a year?!
Help us stop cane toads on the move.
If you catch a suspected cane toad, don’t kill it but store it in a ventilated container and report all sightings immediately to the DPI https://www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/biosecurity/forms/report-an-unusual-animal-sighting
Or call your nearest Hunter Local Land Services Biosecurity Officer on 1300 795 299 to report unusual animals or pest species.
