Lost My Memory- Stick

They call them USB sticks now, those little finger- shaped gadgets that stick into the side of your computer or laptop and hold loads of Gigglebites (sic) of information.

They were originally sold as Memory Sticks. If only I could stick one in my ear and replace all of the information I have forgotten.

Last week my son brought me two new USB sticks on which to put all the 2800 photos from my laptop on one and all the videos on the other. Turns out 32G wasnt enough on each. I also had another to hand containing most of my writing.

‘I will put those in a safe place’, I thought, ‘somewhere handy that I will remember’.

Next day I set up my laptop and reached for my blue memory stick. Not there. Looked for the red memory stick also not there. None of them were there or anywhere near.

Had I thrown them out with some wrapping paper I had just been cleaning up?

My memory would not remember where I had put my memory sticks! What is the point of having nice little USB stick? Might as well have a nice big attached hard drive so you know exactly where it is.

Yes I know USB sticks are very handy when travelling but try finding one in my handbag with the lipsticks.

So I was dusting on Thursday and was looking at the bookcase that sits behind my work area. ‘What is that hanging on that hook there?’ I wondered. Yes you are a head of me. 3 memory sticks hanging tidily in a plastic clip so they won’t get lost and I can just turn around and reach out for one as needed. Fancy forgetting that.

Oh I know I can put everything on the Cloud now but with way the weather weather is going these days you never know what the cllouds are going to be doing. Yes I am joking. I just don’t trust technology that is being looked after a long way away.

I think that counts as my worst Senior Moment to date but watch this space.
